Much like bad weather swept through the north-west the night before, Manchester City swept the visitors aside at the their home ground. It was a convincing three-nil triumph for the City coach's side thanks to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a display that firmly established their championship potential as they strengthened their place at the league summit.

Back-to-Back Setbacks for Manchester United

This result signalled back-to-back Women's Super League setbacks for Skinner's side for the maiden instance since spring 2024, placing them a significant margin off the league leaders with their title hopes severely dented.

United’s ability to manage league and continental soccer with a limited squad has been a frequently analyzed subject since they qualified for the UCL.
